Engagement

Why Ukraine?

War-time conditions have made Ukraine one of the world’s most innovative economies, particularly with regard to defence technology. Competing economies such as Europe and North America are rapidly engaging in this regard.

The value of Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction is around $600 billion to $800 billion. Reconstruction needs sit across the Ukrainian economy. Again, competing economies are actively positioning for their share of the reconstruction pie.

Why Australia?

As identified by the John Curtin Research Centre, Australia has expertise in several areas that are critical to Ukraine’s reconstruction, including energy, infrastructure including health, mining, and agriculture.

Australia has contemporary needs in the defence technology space, such as drone and electronic warfare manufacturing, that Ukraine’s real-world expertise can fill.
